For short trips, get a data eSIM. For relocating, get a local SIM (KT/SK/LG U+) for a Korean number + Kakao + banking.
eSIM: for whom?
Tourists, stays under 1–2 months, compatible phone, mainly need data. Often activatable before landing.
Local SIM: for whom?
Long stays, need a number for ARC/bank/apps. Bring passport (+ ARC if you already have it).
iPhone trap
Check your iPhone isn’t carrier-locked. A purchased eSIM is useless on a locked phone.
